Pioneering Energy Solutions

This year, EnergyIntel continued to revolutionize the energy landscape with the advancement of Electron247, our flagship Thermal Energy Storage (TES) solution. Now at Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL9), Electron247 has reached a new benchmark, combining validated technological components into complete, validated working units, with substantial actual operating hours at several real-world demonstration sites. This breakthrough thermal battery system efficiently captures and stores solar energy during the day, providing continuous power for at least 24 hours post-sunset. Its capacity to support homes, businesses, critical infrastructure, industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and data centers, as well as agriculture—enabling sustainable practices like precision irrigation and energy-efficient food storage—demonstrates our commitment to delivering reliable and impactful energy solutions across sectors.

NOOR Energy 1 – Dubai. The largest single-site concentrated solar power plant in the world

 

Operational Validation: In partnership with NOOR Energy 1 in Dubai, Electron247 demonstrated a remarkable 95% operational availability over a ten-month testing period, earning validation from DNV, a leading independent certification body.

 

Securing Strategic Funding and Global Recognition

EnergyIntel‘s most notable accomplishment this year was securing a prestigious €1.5 million DISRUPT grant from the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation. This funding, along with an additional €1 million in equity, marks a crucial step in the company’s transition from startup to scale-up, providing the resources to scale its proprietary TES E247-V1 system, which efficiently stores and converts thermal energy using recyclable materials and Stirling engines.

 

Driving Global Partnerships and Innovation

This year, EnergyIntel took significant strides in advancing its mission by actively participating in key global events and forging strategic partnerships with leading international organizations. From our impactful membership in the Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council to our inspiring presence at the Hellenic Impact Investment Network’s Athens conference, the Hellenic Innovation Network Conference in Boston, USA, and SLUSH 2024 in Helsinki, Finland, we have established ourselves as a driving force in the energy storage revolution. These events not only showcased our pioneering technology, such as Electron247, but also allowed us to engage with innovators, investors, and policymakers worldwide.

• LDES Council Membership: Our membership with LDES Council has allowed us to shape the conversation on long-duration energy storage and align with global standards and best practices. This collaboration enables us to share insights and innovations while learning from other leaders in the field, fostering a collective effort to accelerate the global energy transition.

 

 

• REFLECT24: EnergyIntel proudly participated in the Reflect Festival on May 30-31 in Limassol, where energy and innovation were at the forefront. As the sole energy sector member of TechIsland, we showcased our evolving solar thermal energy storage solution. 

 

 

On the first day of the festival, we hosted a panel discussion on “The Evolution of Data Center Backup Energy,” featuring distinguished speakers: Valentinos Polykarpou, General Manager Wargaming & Chairman of TechIsland – Andreas Neokleous, CEO of CYTA –  Theodoros Loucaides, Director General at Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation and  Marios Alexandrou, COO of EnergyIntel. Moderated by Eugenia Herodotou, CEO of EnergyIntel, the panel captivated the audience with insights into how advanced energy solutions can address the growing demands of data centers. This platform reinforced our commitment to driving technological advancement and fostering meaningful collaborations in the energy sector. 

 

 

• Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024 and 4YFN Participation: Our participation in the prestigious telecommunications exhibition “Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024” and its startup-focused segment “4 Years from Now” (4YFN) further highlighted EnergyIntel’s dedication to integrating energy innovation with emerging technologies. These events allowed us to explore synergies between telecommunications and energy sectors, present our pioneering solutions to a global audience, and forge connections with leading tech innovators and industry influencers.

 

 

• Hellenic Impact Investment Network Participation: We were honored to join the Hellenic Impact Investment Network this year and make a strong impression with our participation in its Athens conference. Our presentation showcased EnergyIntel’s bold vision for sustainable energy innovation and highlighted our collaborative spirit. Special thanks go to George Platanas and Kostis Tselenis for their exceptional contributions. Their insights, leadership, and commitment inspired meaningful discussions and strengthened our relationships with key stakeholders. • 3rd Annual Conference on the Recovery and Resilience Plan: Our participation in the 3rd Annual Conference on the Recovery and Resilience Plan, further underscored our commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that align with sustainability and innovation. Our CEO, Eugenia Herodotou, joined the Thematic Discussion, titled “Key Achievements and Impact from the First Three Years of Implementing Cyprus’ Recovery and Resilience Plan”. The discussion was moderated by Ms. Céline Gauer, Director-General of the European Commission’s Recovery and Resilience Task Force, creating a platform for high-level dialogue on Cyprus’ progress and challenges. • Hellenic Innovation Network Conference: At the Hellenic Innovation Network Conference in Boston, USA, EnergyIntel proudly unveiled its bold vision for a sustainable energy future to an audience of trailblazing innovators, influential policymakers, and leading industry figures. Our presentation spotlighted the transformative potential of advanced energy storage technologies, such as Electron247, in meeting the escalating global demand for reliable, eco-conscious power solutions. We underscored the imperative of harmonizing cutting-edge innovation with environmental stewardship, demonstrating how our solutions excel in efficiency, recyclability, and reducing ecological footprints.  At Inspire Festival 2024, we proudly sponsored the Gen A stage, where our CEO, Eugenia Herodotou, led a dynamic discussion titled “ESG Skills Empowering Youth for a Brighter Tomorrow.” This inspiring dialogue with esteemed panelists highlighted the importance of ESG principles in shaping a sustainable future, engaging students aged 15-18 and encouraging their active participation. Enhancing Safety Through Collaborative Training

 

This year, we were also thrilled to collaborate with SupportCy for specialized training on managing photovoltaic systems during fires and natural disasters. The training, held on April 26, included members of the Cyprus Fire Service and our Volunteer Corps, with our Sales Engineer, Andreas Hadjicharalambous serving as the instructor. This initiative not only enhances safety and preparedness in critical situations but also underscores our commitment to creating meaningful partnerships for community resilience.

Reversing the Brain Drain in Cyprus

EnergyIntel’s impact extends beyond technology, as it plays a pivotal role in reversing Cyprus’ brain drain. By attracting top scientific talents from countries such as the UK, Denmark, and the Netherlands, the company has reinforced its R&D capabilities while contributing to the local economy. Chief Scientist Demetris Skourides lauded EnergyIntel for its efforts to repatriate talent, noting how this initiative strengthens Cyprus’ standing as an innovation hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
