Role Overview
EnergyIntel is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of its day-to-day accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with management, the successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, prepare timely accounting reporting and ensure the smooth running of the group’s accounting function.
This is a hands-on position suited to an organised professional who can work independently, resolve accounting issues and support management with reliable financial information.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping of the group, maintaining complete and accurate records.Â
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, collections and supplier reconciliations.Â
- Liaise with operational crews, the planning department and other internal and external stakeholders to obtain the information needed to keep the accounting records up to date and to trigger timely invoicing.Â
- Prepare payment schedules and supporting documentation for approval under the group’s authorisation procedures.Â
- Perform bank, general-ledger and balance-sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.Â
- Complete month-end and year-end closing, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other adjustments.Â
- Maintain and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.Â
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules for review by the CFO.Â
- Monitor cash balances, upcoming payments and outstanding receivables, supporting cash-flow forecasting.Â
- • Maintain fixed-asset registers and monitor capital expenditure and relevant project costs.Â
- Prepare VAT returns and other applicable submissions, coordinating with external advisers where required.Â
- Coordinate payroll processing and reconcile payroll-related accounts.Â
- Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial information requested by management.Â
- Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisers on year-end reporting and compliance.Â
- Maintain an organised reporting calendar and ensure assigned deadlines are met.Â
- Improve accounting procedures, controls and documentation, escalating significant issues to the CFO.Â
What We’re Looking For – Required Qualifications
- At least five years of relevant accounting experience, including responsibility for independently managing accounting tasks and closing procedures.Â
- Experience in an in-house accounting function or handling group-company accounts.Â
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS and relevant Cyprus VAT and accounting requirements.Â
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.Â
- ACCA/ACA qualification will be considered an advantage;Â
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.Â
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to work directly with the CFO, management and external advisers.Â
- Energy-sector experience, project accounting or experience in an asset-intensive business will be considered an advantage.
- Fluent or native Greek speaker with professional working proficiency in English.
